Exposition

North North-Eas

Snow condition

5 von 5 Sterne
5 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 1000 m)
Descent through forest
Covered shoes

perfect and in my opinion rather above average, for the time of year. in expo-s, anyway ;-) in the valley there is about 50cm of snow at 1000m. looks quite impressive, on the uncleared pp, in unterjoch.

Snow quality

4 von 5 Sterne
Powder snow

pow, the whole day, but already (almost) everywhere covered with fresh snow. on w.e. it must have been a big day (picture 1), but there were about 5cm of freshies in the valley and up to 10cm in the summit area overnight. it wasn't enough to cover the old tracks, but it was still great.

Risks

Much fresh snow
West North-West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

today partly quite unpleasant and cold wind from the west (!), but below freight strength. sluff management (picture 2) is still required in steeper areas. the bayer. 2 fits. drifting snow is not very pronounced below the tree line, even on ridges. today above the tree line, white-out.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne
Better

today the sun almost made it (picture 2), but then it didn't work out. the wind was below freight strength, so tomorrow will probably be the last cold winter day for the time being, with pow in the sun expos. the visibility should also be quite good.
