Ski tour in the northern Außerfern with a little fresh snow (1300m - 2200m, all exposures)
Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
Overall, the amount of snow is relatively low due to the high temperatures of the last few weeks. On the south side, below 1300 m above sea level and in the forest, there was hardly any snow until yesterday. The situation improved with the snowfall from Thursday to Friday. Around 10 cm fell at an altitude of 2000 meters. Skis often have to be carried. This afternoon the zero degree line was at around 1400 meters.
Snow quality
The snow fell without much wind influence, was powdery and hardly bound. However, this lies on a superficially frozen layer of harsh snow. Due to the small amount of fresh snow, skiing was quite rough on the hard, harsh surface.
Risks
The situation was quite good today. The soaked snow cover froze again on the surface and looked quite stable. On the descent, however, all the fresh snow slid off on the slippery snow cover in the steep terrain.
Overall impression
As we went on tour today without any great expectations, the day was very nice and skiing in the fresh snow was great fun. However, the clouds meant that visibility above the tree line was poor.
