Snow condition
I put on and took off my skis at about 1300m (north-facing). That's 1000m lower than last week in Ötztal. Early May, Tannheimer Tal - perfect.
Snow quality
Hard and grippy on the ascent in the morning. North-facing summit slope: the finest powder on old snow cover that does not come through. Only the somewhat harder boulders that have fallen out of the rocks are a bit of a nuisance, but you can easily maneuver around them. It hasn't actually been that good all winter. May! Tannheimer Tal!!! Powder! Right on the doorstep!!!
Risks
There was fresh snow during the week, which seems to have bonded well with the old snow cover. No signs of wind, no problems with the temperature. I skied steeper gullies - no problems.
Overall impression
5 stars? For me, there's no debate: there are certainly more epic days, but this one was insane. Why? 1. powder. 2. powder. 3. powder. 4. in May. 5. on the doorstep. 6. easy access.7. top descents.8. powder - in May!9. from approx. 1600m. 10. powder - in May - on the doorstep! Why the curious title? The fact that the whole world comes to the Brotzeitplatz - that's a given. But the fact that someone poops at the Brotzeitplatz (!) is really new. I'm curious to see how this will be increased!
