Snow condition

by the way, i wasn't in the tannheimer valley today, otherwise i would have to go into quarantine. but i was very close and therefore allowed to continue living normally, although i didn't get closer than 10m to anyone all day and was alone. so much for the sense of the current hygiene regulations. it is white and there is approx. 10cm of fresh pow (really fluffy), without base (in all expositons) from 850m. that means any off-piste skiing (in any expo) is impossible to very unpleasant. as soon as you try to turn, you come through to the ground. depending on the base, this is then more or less material-destroying for the skis. skiing is only possible where there is and has been snowmaking. the snow depth doesn't get any better further up!

Snow quality

fresh pow, best quality, also south-facing (down to the ground).

since the bavarian lawi is not yet available either, the amount of snow seems to be rather uncritical (at least from 800-1500hm). in this area there was not even an old snow layer on the north side today.after i also saw car numbers from muc and gap, it seems to be the same further east.

the söder is right, stay at home!!! it's not worth it with skis (you'll find excellent conditions for snowshoeing or winter hiking. there's hardly any need for tracks and there's no icy surface).
the one star is for the sun at the summit.
another tip, which will probably remain the same for the coming weeks:
the pp at wertacher hörnle was completely full at 10am. all other parking facilities are either not cleared (which, given the current snow depth, is only a problem where a snowplow has passed the entrance), or closed due to parking bans (e.g. the pp of the spiesser ski lift), or only partially cleared (pp säge in gunzesrieder tal). furthermore, the alpine dairy in wertach has closed its store (since 15.11.) and all available snow cannons are running on all slopes (which are supposed to open at some point) (going up there is no real fun either and feels like being in a car wash).
conclusion: that's it for me for the time being. from this afternoon onwards, the forecast is for a south-westerly flow again anyway, with temperatures of up to 9°C at 1500m. then there's nothing left where i was today anyway and there aren't many other options for the bavaria anyway, with the impending hard lock-down.
p.s.
there's slightly more snow in the gunzesrieder valley. but we're only talking about a few cm here and not about a different starting situation. according to the summit book, it's not enough for the terrain in balderschwang either.
