Altitude
1300 - 1800m
Avalanche warning level
low (1)
Exposition
Snow condition
Valley descent not possible at all ski areas. Ski tours only with a slightly longer approach to get to the snow. Overall, a reasonably good base for upcoming snowfalls from an altitude of 1400m
Snow quality
Hard rain cover in all exposures up to at least 1800m. Some recycled drift snow in the hollows but not enough to make soft turns. Urgently needed fresh snow is on its way and the first flakes came down in the Tannheimer Tal in the late afternoon.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Ski thumbs and similar mishaps are currently more likely to trigger avalanches. The snow cover will stabilize as it cools down to sub-zero temperatures.
Overall impression
Skiing off-piste is hardly worthwhile. It's least bad in the off-piste area where there's a lot of skiing and the snow is softer. Otherwise, piste skiing is more fun right now. The new front came in in the afternoon and will hopefully bring some heavy snowfall.
