Snow report TannheimerTal, 02/05/2023
für mich: saisonbeginn, in den allgäuer vorbergen. besser als erwartet, aber noch weit weg von gut !!!
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Altitude
1000 - 1600m
Avalanche warning level
considerable (3)
Exposition
Snow condition
below 1300m "knee-high" pow, on a capped base, partly bearing. above that quickly more, in the summit area then approx. 30cm. i.e. the hoped-for quantities have not come by far and the snow situation is extremely poor. but it is now enough to be able to make ski tours in the open terrain, above approx. 1300m, in a sensible way.
Snow quality
relatively heavy, but still easy to ride pow, on a partially load-bearing base. the wind has transported quite a lot and the edges of the terrain and the back look white, but there is often nothing underneath.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: no wind
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
sliding snow mouths seen in expo s, wind signs and wakes on ridges and in front of hollows from expo w, some cracks in the snow cover due to predecessors, could be seen.
Overall impression
will stay like this. today we'll get some cosmetic fresh snow and then it'll stay cold. ski slopes will continue to be the preferred option for downhill runs without regret.
