Snow condition
In northwestern Ticino about 50 cm of fresh snow until Sunday. In the northern sector, there was still a base above about 1200 m. You can ski through the terrain up to approx. 1400 m without any problems.
Snow quality
Finally skied more than 15 cm of powder again. Still really deep on Sunday, but a strong northerly wind on Sunday morning, so it was a bit windswept in places. Not nice to ski below 1600 m.
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Not as bad as expected, but still considerable given the amount of fresh snow. We have seen two small spontaneous losses from wind-loaded slopes (wschl night Sat/Sun). Otherwise, the connection to the old snow is quite good, apart from on wind-protected shady slopes (snow-covered surface rime)
Overall impression
Three beautiful days in freshly snow-covered Ticino. Freeriding on Sunday, touring yesterday and today. The ski area was as busy off-piste as I've ever experienced here, everyone on the powder turkey. The depth of the slopes decreased from day to day, but the hours of sunshine increased.
