The start from the Gotthard Pass at 2100m is still possible without any problems and the journey to the trunk will certainly continue for some time. Basically, the corner had been exposed to more snow over the winter, but not in huge quantities.

Snow quality

It's the middle of May. Summer snow in the lower part, from 2500m it still firns up nicely. Start in the morning at 05.30 hard and crampons recommended. Departure from Lucendro at 09 o'clock? good on the east side. Via Fibbia back on the north-east side at about 10 am, one turn in braking snow and one with a lid. But still ok.

Risks

Don't be out too long, then it should be fine. Some groups set off from the parking lot at around 10.00 am...

I've rarely seen so many people in the last few months and that on a ski tour. I hope that Lucendro doesn't become the new Ischgl...
Nice tour nonetheless, but that's probably it for this season... But never say never...

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
