The snow conditions are good for the beginning of April. On the south side, you can ski down to 1,500 m on the forest road. In the terrain, a descent up to approx. 1,800 m is possible, below that it varies depending on the slope.

Snow quality

Wet snow
Slush
Firn
Jelly snow

With good timing, the snow quality is actually quite good. However, it was a pity that the lower (and actually beautiful slope) had been receiving sunshine since 7.15 am, so there was rotten snow here. At the top (between 2,600 and 1,900), we had perfect firn on our descent (10 am).

Risks

Diurnal warming
Much water in the snow cover
North

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

There were no spontaneous avalanches today, but there were some damp avalanche cones from yesterday and the day before on the sunny slopes. The sunlight and diurnal warming are currently extremely strong, so an early start and an early end to the tour are essential.

Equal

Another beautiful firn tour today with great weather. The descent at 10 a.m. from 2,600 m was good on the south side. The somewhat east-facing slopes further down (from 1,980-1,800 m) were already very wet and slushy, but at least we caught the really good part in the firn. An early start and an early end to the tour are really important (warning level 4 in the afternoon), so it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when people come up with the idea of wanting to ski the same slope as us 3 hours later (quote from the 2 tourers: We want to leave at 1 o'clock, that should suit us well). So it's better to get up earlier and enjoy the firn, then there's still enough time for an afternoon nap in the sun at home!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
