On 6.1. 5cm of optical snow was added in the foothills of the Alps, but apart from the artificial snow base, there are hardly any tours that are easy on equipment, we still have the notorious frozen fields here. With a lowered level of difficulty, however, there are also positive aspects: the pistes are partly icy, but skiable without stone skis and skiing activity is at least possible...

Snow quality

The quality of the fresh snow is ok, but there is a lack of quantity.

Risks

Massive danger from stones, open trenches, but hardly from avalanches. Social hazards are a new category of danger in the context of the pandemic: in Germany, the media and politicians are (pre-)condemning so-called day tourists in particular as drivers of infection.

Overall impression

I was out and about in Garmisch, Lengries, Ammergau and Spitzing as part of an exercise therapy program. The descents were ok. I hardly ever encountered any crowds and in my opinion they were easily avoidable. See photo 3, for example: well, you don't have to get ready for the descent right at the summit cross. The dispute in the local media between the "city dwellers", who should please stay away, and the so-called "locals" makes it impossible for me to give it more than one star. I'm happy for everyone who enjoys great powder in East Tyrol or elsewhere.

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
