All the snow has settled well. Nevertheless, there is no contact with the ground in the Geigelstein region. As described, it looked different yesterday on the Hochries. The ridges are often blown off and the pines are usually not yet well covered in snow. Some stones are only slightly covered. You can get some nasty scratches. But with a little eye for the snow surface, this can be managed. I skied the so-called Platt am Geigenstein today. I think it was my first run this winter. Didn't look particularly snowy from above. But I got down without contact.

It was already damp on the south side today. Probably with a light cover tomorrow. At the start in the valley it was still very cold. On the mountain in the sun I measured 9°. Still great quality on the shaded side. The cold powder on the plateau was also nice and settled, the kind you only know from the high mountains.

Risks

Certainly had a peak at noon today with all the radiation input. Danger should go down further tomorrow if there are no major changes. But no danger signs observed again today. A few small slides from sunny slopes. And a small sliding snow avalanche from a long distance to the south. But that was to be expected.

Super sunny and beautiful snow all day. You get one or two scratches, but what's the point of being stingy, the main thing is that there's something going on and supplies are already in sight. If you're coming from Munich on the A8 and want to do something in the Chiemgau mountains, it's worth the slightly longer drive to Sachrang in the Priental valley.
