Snow report Upper Bavaria, 01/12/2019
Still an incredible amount in chiemgau

Snow condition
One meter at the bottom, two meters at the top. Crystal clear maximum rating here. You can't really touch anything other than snow, except perhaps below 600-700 m in the dense forest
Snow quality
Not quite as difficult as last week, but in the forest aisles at lower altitudes you have to dig through the snow or be quick to surf up. The old piste on the Geigelstein was skied again today by almost everyone in the ascent track; outside of it, you get stuck in the flat sections with 115 mm skis. Where the wind is blowing, it's easy to get a lid on it in the middle sections.
Risks
Above the Wuhrsteinalm, a very powerful crack in the steep (35°) south-eastern slope. The avalanche went down the steep slope and gathered enough energy there to spill onto the small baffle slope, 'turn off' there, so to speak, and continue for a good 100 m through the flat (
Overall impression
Never seen sinking depths are always fun. Faceshots are also easy to get at the bottom, but with a reasonable steepness you often just stop after two turns in the fall line. For someone who wants to get home safely in the evening, there are still not many options here.
