Lick my tongue: the finest ski tour in the Hochries region
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
From 800m there is a quite decent base. But it's not really good yet. Just under 30cm is new. Be careful at pasture fences, the barbed wire has often not been laid down and is only lightly snowed in. Sometimes it's not so easy to climb over such a fence on skis in deep snow. And you don't want your nice Gore-Tex trousers to get any holes in them...
Snow quality
There was wind again, but not as strong as during the last snowfalls. This time we were able to find completely unbound fresh snow even at higher altitudes. So far the best I've skied this season This morning was certainly a little better. Was only out and about in the late afternoon.
Risks
The current snow has not been transported as heavily. As already correctly described in other reports, the older drift snow packs still pose a danger. But they are almost impossible to recognize. Caution is still advisable.
Overall impression
It certainly wasn't as good as my colleague in the east. The base is simply still missing. Hollows and kinks in the terrain have not yet been completely filled, so that the reins can be completely loosened. But you hardly have to worry about coming into contact with rocks. Otherwise a great evening tour with outstanding snow! Just under 4 over all.
