Variations of snow cover

Morning ski tour in the Mangfallgebirge. The current total amount of snow is well below the long-term average. There is hardly anything left from the precipitation at the beginning of December. Some of the last snowfall is lying directly on the ground. Off-piste activities make little sense at the moment. Rock skiing is highly recommended.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Breakable crust
Powder snow

On the north side, where there is still some old snow, the quality is okay. Where the sun shines, you will find a thin layer of snow, at least in the early morning.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
North North-West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

The main danger comes from slightly snow-covered stones and exposed obstacles such as rocks and vegetation. The wind became stronger in the summit area.

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne
Equal

Quiet morning tour in perfect weather with a few good turns. Some fresh snow is needed to think about serious touring again.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
