Snow report Upper Bavaria, 01/17/2016
Endlich Winteranfang in den Bayrischen Alpen: Rotwandreibn
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
On average 1 meter of snow on bare ground... No base!
Snow quality
Wind-blown powder snow, partly blown down to the ground, piled up to 2 meters on north/west-facing slopes. Same consistency down to the ground, but solidified. Snow became soaked and heavy in the afternoon.
Risks
Heavy accumulations of drifting snow, can be triggered by individuals, but not dangerous, and the snow settles heavily during the day due to increased solar radiation. In steep areas, muffled booming and cracks in the snow, danger of snow slabs. In flat areas up to 30°, however, completely undisturbed deep snow.
Overall impression
Very rewarding tour, with numerous steep gullies, but not to be tackled in such avalanche conditions.

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
