Dust on crust - aber endlich wieder Winterfeeling
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
At the start at 1100 m, there was around 10 cm of fresh snow in the morning. As the altitude increased, there was more and more, so that at around 1700 m there was around 20 cm in sheltered corners. The overall snow situation is still not great, wind-exposed slopes, ridges, summits and sunny corners at lower altitudes are not particularly well covered with snow. In open terrain, the wind was again quite unpleasant in places today.
Snow quality
Above 1300 m, the snow was super fine for skiing. Only the occasional blow-through on the hard old snow was a little annoying. On the last 200 m the snow got a little heavier. Today we were mainly on the west side with a small northern part. Still enough for 3 stars.
Risks
It was quite relaxed in the meadow terrain today. We were still discussing a leeward descent on the ascent. A group of two ahead of us had the same plan. The entrance was visually well loaded with drift snow. When sliding into the slope, a small board came loose (risk of falling greater than the risk of burial). They did not ski down there either. LWS 2 above the tree line applies. Pay attention to drift snow and bear in mind that some of the snow has built up on the shaded side.
Overall impression
Finally that winter feeling again, fresh snow and hardly any people on the mountain.
