Mangfallgebirge after foehn and storm with fresh snow a thousand knees deep
Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
Wind-exposed slopes, ridges and crests are more or less free of snow. From around 1400 m, the snow conditions get worse, below that in the sheltered forest it looks much better. Where the wind has been able to work, the skiing possibilities are limited. Gullies and hollows, on the other hand, are well filled. All in all, the snow situation is very inhomogeneous.
Snow quality
Today we had it all: settled powder, hard frozen, windswept and occasionally a knee-deep layer of fresh snow on a hard surface. Every turn felt different. All in all, it was a mixed bag and more for skiing technique.
Risks
Strong winds also moved the snow today. Snow plumes could be seen again and again. Entrances to gullies near the crest are filled with drift snow. You should pay close attention there and take a critical look. Due to the strong wind influence, the terrain often changes from a little to a lot of snow. LWS 2 (regardless of the altitude).
Overall impression
Better than sitting at home and fresh air is always good. Let's wait and see what happens in terms of snow growth over the next few days.
