Snow report Upper Bavaria, 01/27/2017
Short after-work ski tour on a north-east facing slope from 800 to 1100m.
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Very thin in the sparse forest, sometimes only 10 cm. It was never more than 50 cm. Nevertheless, the descent worked surprisingly well as the bottom layer is very firm.
Snow quality
Overall much worse than yesterday. The first 100m or so were still easy to ride in settled powder, but after that it was clearly too wet and very hard to ride.
Risks
The surface didn't even come up in terrain that was a good 35 degrees steep throughout. Apart from that, no other observations made in the ski area today. As I wrote yesterday: Surface frost could become a problem after the next snowfall.
Overall impression
In terms of snow conditions and snow quality, rather mediocre. On the other hand, I skied the project I've been considering for a long time with a friend for the first time today
