Snow condition
Just under two stars because you can only just get down to the low starting point (750m) on skis, and the base only goes down in the shadiest forest aisles below 1000m. There is frighteningly little snow even at medium altitudes. On the south side, for example, even above 1400 m there are only snow bands in hollows, with exposed ground in between. Logically more base in the shade, from 1200 - 1400 ok. Practically no snow in the forest at all altitudes. 10 cm of fresh snow here in the east at the bottom and an average of around 20 cm at the top.
Snow quality
We had to fear the worst on the ascent. There was a lot of wind down to lower altitudes, even on alpine meadows, etc.; meter-by-meter changes between rock-hard and powderpockets. Then a very pleasant surprise on the descent. Found a line with fresh snow throughout and successfully avoided all obstacles (which were more visible than average because they were blown clear). Even the south-east slope at the top was still really dusty at midday. There's really nothing to complain about in terms of quality down to the bottom. Fine cruiser snow, you can't/shouldn't go full throttle yet. Almost 3 stars
Risks
The LWD Bavaria has estimated a two at all altitudes, while the Tyroleans have estimated a level three from the forest border area. Interesting. I was very conservative today and saved myself the north-east slope (lee!) with up to 35° today, although it was already groomed. If you know where it was well groomed beforehand and there was no frost, I think even slopes like that are doable.
Overall impression
I give the subjective third star because I finally crawled out of my master's thesis cave and then got it really good. It's been a long time since I've had so much fun cruising around from top to bottom in soft snow. Skifoan is great; I was able to experience it for myself again today.
PS: Have fun in the slush, dear weekend warriors ;P
