Ostchiemgau - Powder on freezer burn

Snow condition
The good news: there is still a good base, even in the forest. It's already patchy on the south side up to 800-1000m, but it's better than nothing - the fresh snow since the early morning hours today was still unproductive until midday and wet up to 1000m.
Snow quality
Meh. Hard old snow, a bit softer above 1400m. Fresh snow on top, below this altitude damp to wet and not relevant in terms of quantity, at higher altitudes a little more and also nice and soft. But you generally get through the hard base with every turn.
Risks
Level 1 at all altitudes in this area. The old snow not only has a hard cover, but is very compact and stable through and through (as long as it doesn't thaw again). The wind was only gusting above gale force in the ridges at midday today.
Overall impression
The AV spoke of light snow showers, I was soaked in 10 minutes of ascent, had stud problems in between, forgot my hardshell and beeps and adjusted the binding to a 10mm shorter boot (thanks lift operator!). In the lee of the trees, however, 1-2 nice turns were still possible through the fresh snow, which was already a bit deeper there, even if the base was always scratching along. I was expecting a training tour with the faint hope of a partly beautiful summit slope - and got it.
