Snow condition
The snow conditions in the Mangfallgebirge are anything but good. It is well below average at the moment. Streams and other terrain traps are already reappearing. Ridges, ridges and areas exposed to the wind are bare or only slightly covered in snow. I started at 1100 m today. I'll have a look in the next few days to see what still works from the valley.
Snow quality
Super fine, cold fresh snow, which fell with less wind this time. You always want it like this. Now to the hook, unfortunately only around 10 cm on average and some of this is on a rock-hard base. You should think carefully about where the base could perhaps be a little softer before setting off. As most of the turns were good, just three stars.
Risks
Quite relaxed today on my meadow tour. I was on a west, north-west exposure below 1700 m. With the little fresh snow, it was a bit difficult to walk from time to time when it lay on a layer of ice and you slipped away as a result. Due to the limited snow cover, you should watch out for terrain traps.
Overall impression
Solitary ascent including descent with good turns until shortly before the parking lot. Today we get 3 stars for: finally wintry temperatures, finally cold fresh snow with little wind (even if it is far too little) and lots of peace and quiet with a nice cloudy atmosphere and light snowfall on the ascent.
