Exposition
Snow condition
Ski tour in the Mangfall mountains with a starting altitude of 800 m. Shady forest paths for the first few meters are now well covered in snow. The snow cover is very inhomogeneous. All areas exposed to the wind are still not suitable for skiing. If you stay in the sheltered lee, the snow conditions are good and a lot is possible.
Snow quality
Approx. 15 cm to 20 cm of cold fresh snow. Due to the cold morning temperatures, the snow quality was very good until midday. Now and then you could feel the hard base (depending on the wind). Snow that has seen the sun today will have a cover tomorrow.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
In the early morning, a brisk southerly wind moved the fresh snow in the summit regions. However, this weakened over the course of the morning. The avalanche situation in our alpine meadow terrain was quite relaxed today. There was some drift snow close to the ridge, but it was hardly disturbing. The sun and the rise in temperature can lead to sliding snow avalanches in steeper terrain.
Overall impression
Blue skies, excellent visibility and good snow. Tomorrow the conditions will be worse due to the rise in temperature and the sun.
