The snow situation is a drama...

Snow condition
It's only mid-February but in the Mangfallgebirge it's already mid-April according to the snow conditions. We started today on a shady forest path at just over 800 meters. Ascending was possible with the snow conditions, but the descent was over from around 920 m. We didn't even want to continue with our "Stoaski". From about 1200 m you can think about skiing. Rocks, streams and other terrain traps are no longer really deep in snow. The bottom line is that the possibilities are limited!
Snow quality
We were out and about in a sheltered eastern basin. On average, there was around 20 cm of the finest wild snow. The hilly terrain occasionally turns to the south, so it was already covered. The trick today was to find the "shady" spots in the terrain or the patches where the snow was still really good. 2.5 stars.
Risks
Quite a relaxed day of touring. The wind was surprisingly weaker than expected and so we didn't get any snow today. The old snow cover was very well set. It should be noted that the sun already has a lot of power and, despite the current temperatures, is moistening the snow, causing it to lose its firmness. LWS 1.
Overall impression
Apart from the snow conditions, today was a great day for touring. Perfect weather, mostly good snow, untracked terrain and no other tourers on the way apart from us. That's how I like it!
