We set off through wind and rain in very mild temperatures towards Hochiss and climbed one of the front peaks.

Snow condition
There was snow from the "Abenteuer Park Achensee" parking lot. In the lower forest up to the first alpine meadow it was bare. So you had to ski down on the forest road and at the top the snow conditions were very good in places. Estimated 50-80 cm maximum. Less in the big ones, however. Especially in the upper forest there were several contacts with the ground or stones.
Snow quality
Yes, now we come to the quality... Unfortunately, there are no zero stars to choose from... Unexpectedly, the snow in the upper areas is much wetter than in the lower part. What's more, the dripping wet snow at the top was wind-packed and even more challenging, so it wasn't a pleasure.
Risks
The avalanche situation has worsened considerably. Particularly heavy wet snow avalanches are the danger! A three is forecast for Tyrol tomorrow. This morning it was still a two. We've seen a lot of small wet snow slides and also a snow slab that broke off. Drift snow also poses a danger in cold, shady gullies.
Overall impression
Lots of wind in the upper areas. Rain almost the whole tour! Well...the area is beautiful, but with better conditions it would certainly be easier to enjoy.
