Ski tour in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps

Overall impression
Snow condition
We started today at just over 800 m. The north-facing ascent was still no problem at all in terms of the snow conditions. However, on the sunny side and especially on very steep, sunny slopes and flanks, the snow was already thawing out. Up to around 1280 m, the old snow cover was frozen solid and didn't become any softer until midday. Above that, there was fresh snow knee-deep. Just 4 stars.
Snow quality
At an altitude of around 1600 m, we skied down an east-facing flank, the upper part was quite pleasant and soft to ski, followed by a transition to slab powder. The forest descent to the car was a real treat for our skiing technique. Good at the top, bad at the bottom.
Risks
There was some drift snow near the ridge, but it was very easy to recognize and avoid. The risk of falling is greater here than the risk of burial. The problem of sliding snow is currently the main problem. We were able to see numerous descents today, some of which were quite large.
Overall impression
A lonely day with mixed snow conditions.
