Snow condition
Actually, the plan for today was not to do anything on the doorstep. After studying the measuring stations in the evening, it quickly became clear that we should change our plans and stay here. Yesterday, just under 25 cm fell at 1100 m. As the altitude increased, it went up to around 30 cm. And now for the big surprise, there is still precipitation with temperatures below 0 °C and no wind. All in all, the snow situation is still quite poor. Many rocks and other terrain traps are now lightly snowed in again, which increases contact with the enemy. At least ridges and ridges were visually white today.
Snow quality
Beautiful fine powder snow, super fluffy to ski. No bruising on the hard old snow cover. It's still possible! We skied up to 1700 m, first run northeast (great), second run south in the forest (still good around 9:30 am) and the last run southwest (shortly after 10 am, also still good). An early start was essential for good snow today. On the last ascent, the snow on the east side was already slightly damp and no longer great. Fortunately, our schedule worked perfectly today and we were rewarded with super snow quality.
Risks
The fresh snow fell with little wind, and there was already a slight settling in the early morning. The connection to the old snow made a pretty good impression. We could only see small loose snow slides from steep, sunny terrain. We were back at the car later in the morning when it got much warmer (sliding snow). LWS 2 >1500 m.
Overall impression
Best day in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps so far this season. The quality of the snow was superb and almost completely made up for the poor snow conditions. After the tour, there was drama at the parking lot when looking for a parking space. The traffic in the Oberland was abnormal around midday today. It makes you even happier that you were early and were able to enjoy the good stuff in peace.
