Snow condition
it really has the best conditions of the winter, by far. 0 cm in the lower Achental, 10 cm in the upper part towards the Tyrolean border. at the touring parking lot it's already 20 and 50m above that 30 cm in open areas. from 1000m at the latest, full amounts of 50 cm and more in hollows. the high areas are also looking really good for the first time this season. Uneven terrain is evened out by the snow cover and areas that have been blown away are always well covered, even at medium altitudes.
Snow quality
over 1200 m of fine pellets, which can still be driven quite well despite the immense sinking depth, even below 30°. Below that, the snow no longer has any temperature reserve, tends to stick and gives more resistance, but only slows down due to the quantity, not the consistency. You don't see any shoes the whole descent
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
people were very passive in the Geigelstein area today, the relevant avalanche slopes have not yet been walked (good thing!). today is such a day where you only have to fall stupidly to suffocate. however, apart from small loose snow slides from steep terrain, nothing was observed, i would have expected clearer wind signs.
Overall impression
The big skis went into rehab too early this year (miss you!). A brutal amount of fresh snow, through which you can ski well despite the immense sinking depths. This means you have to pay particular attention to snow-covered obstacles until everything has settled down a bit. I caught a few smaller ones, plus the tense situation, which prevented me from getting the fourth star. We are in for some really great days
