Snow condition

At the time of our tour there was snow from about 900m upwards. As is usual in Norway in spring, moss fields and snow alternate. However, as I didn't have a single rock contact on the descents, I'm awarding a whole three stars here. No Champaninger feeling, of course, but a decent spring tour!

Snow quality

If you always measure snow quality by fluffiness, it would look poor here. But as I said, it's almost summer and it was really good. Towards late evening and in the morning hours, the snow was frozen over and hard. During the day, it was soggy and slushy due to the strong sunlight. Spring skiing in steep snow fields.

It is advisable to keep a close eye on the terrain. There are wakes piled up by the wind everywhere in the areas close to the ridge and also in places exposed to the wind. These tend to collapse in the afternoon and slide down. The avalanche situation of a 2 refers to the danger of wet snow later in the day with strong sunlight.

Overall impression

The tours were awesome! Short ascents and great descents. With little to no clothing and guaranteed brown crusts. Not forgetting the scenery! Thanks Joni
