Act of desperation
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
1-20cm of snow, about 5cm on open forest roads. Walking up with skis underfoot was somehow possible. Most of the snow was on a flat northern area. There was too little everywhere in the forest to be able to ski down.
Snow quality
The snow is loose with no base. Even higher up (above 1400m) there is not enough to ski down in the forest.
Risks
I only moved below the Braum border. There was no closed snow cover there. But I always have avalanche equipment with me, if only for training purposes. I want to be used to the weight.
Overall impression
Out of absolute desperation, because the right snow is not accessible, I went from Ohlstadt via the Richtigen Hirschberg hiking trail. I was even able to use my skis on the way up. I also tried to ski down, but gave up after 5 bends. I didn't have any stone skis before. Now I have one.
So I strapped my skis and boots to my backpack and made the descent in light boots. Gödel were not necessary because the path is gravelly and no ice slabs had formed.
The whole thing was an act of desperation to interrupt the frustration of eating on the sofa. But there was all the more frustration afterwards.
