Snow condition
For the time of year, the snow conditions above 800-900 m are quite good. At 1000 m approx. 40 cm, at 1200 m more like 60 - 70 cm. In contrast to the Feldberg, it has added another 10 cm here in the last 48 hours. Below 800-900 m it's really borderline, I got a bad dent on the very last turn before the parking lot.
Snow quality
At the bottom, of course, very little and cardboardy, but improving quickly from 900 m and very fluffy from about 1000 m. So on average it's three stars. The few centimeters that have fallen in the last few days have been very light and without much wind.
Risks
The north and east-facing slopes should be loaded accordingly, as there are now quite satisfactory amounts of snow for early January and the low mountain ranges. Down below, the danger continues to come from molehills and stones.
Overall impression
Very nice, very wintry day in the Black Forest. The few centimeters of fresh snow made it very nice to ride, at least from 900 m, even if the terrain was quite flat. Still a lot going on... Unfortunately, we're still lacking the supplies to make it really good...
