Snow condition
The start was at about 1000 meters. Everything here was tip-top and there was plenty of potential for fun. Despite the strong wind, there was still plenty of snow at the top of the summit, allowing descents in all directions, and the descent went down to about 800 meters, where the snow cover is much thinner and you have to watch out for stones and other stumbling companions.
Snow quality
At the start at 7 a.m., the snow was nice and fluffy and cold, up at the summit anyway. Corresponding to the amount of snow, the snow quality decreases rapidly from 900 meters, but is still easy to ski. So it's still worth heading for the high peaks.
Risks
Above the tree line, it is quite blown out and there are small cornices to the north. But that's not critical from my point of view. Otherwise, the snow has settled well and looks stable.
Overall impression
Starting early is still the best way to avoid the crowds of ski tourers. Today it was exra fine and so we went up twice.
On the way back, the slope around the Heidstein lift in Münstertal was really full. There are still a few opportunities to satisfy our longing for the Alps with some nice snowy Black Forest romance and I'm grateful for every centimeter of snow here. I'm curious to see when I'll bump into the other condition reporters from the Black Forest who are also so busy here.
