Snow condition
Pretty decent in the north-facing forests up to around 1000m. A completely different picture on the south side. Snowboarding is out of the question in the southern forest of the Heidstein, it stays cold, the snow stays somehow.
Snow quality
Basically good to ride. But heat input noticeable, slight melting harsh on the surface.
Risks
Difficult to assess in the forest and fog. We didn't see any slides at the two entrances from the summit. We slid around a bit on skins to have a look. The top layer of snow is still loose, only slightly affected by the wind. Underneath?
Overall impression
All in all, you can still splitboard reasonably on the Belchen. We couldn't see the southern slopes towards Neuenweg. Still plenty of snow on the north side. Thanks to an early start (before the snowplow man) almost alone on the way.
Impressive again the license plates on the chute on return...F, S, KA, PF
