Snow condition
In the Feldberg region about 20cm have fallen since yesterday, in the central Black Forest rather more, but only above 800m. At the turn of the year the old snow had unfortunately melted completely, so there is a thin layer of snow, some of which has broken through to the ground. There is a maximum of half a meter above 1200m.
Snow quality
Looks nice, but either I've made a mistake or the snow is slowing me down considerably. According to other tourers, the conditions in Zastler are supposed to be some of the best.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Some of the drift snow is already covered again. I also heard some booming noises, but couldn't observe any fresh slides on the Baldenweger.
Overall impression
Unfortunately, it's back to business as usual in the Black Forest. There were a few tourers out and about today, but it felt like there were fewer than before Christmas, but there was another big rush in the open ski areas. The next few days should stay the same, but hopefully there will be a real replenishment soon, otherwise there will be no Badisch Columbia this year ?
