Feierabend-Powdern in der Ortenau

Snow condition
It's madness. It's been snowing without interruption for almost 24 hours now, and it's still going strong. 20 cm at 200 m, 50 cm at the parking lot at 450 m, 60 - 80 cm at 800 m. The one-fold formula for snow depth seems to be altitude above sea level / 10. Fits quite well, at least here in the central Black Forest. Mind you, this is in the Ortenau, one of the sunniest regions in Germany.
Snow quality
Fluffy without end, very, very light snow. You can barely touch the old snow cover from last week. Mind you, this is on the Mooskopf, not the Titlis...
Risks
Dangerous roof avalanches everywhere. Otherwise, acute danger of snow breaking, many branches have already come down and are bending dangerously downwards. Very dangerous on steep slopes, probably not just at the very top on the usual suspects such as Feldberg, Belchen etc. due to all the fresh snow. Watch out!
Overall impression
What an end to the day. On a day like this, you just have to get out of the home office on time and hit the slopes. When has there ever been so much snow right on our doorstep in the central Black Forest in recent years? Lots of snow, good quality. Now the race is on for the best tours, especially with a view to the weekend. I can only advise you to get creative and look for something away from the "standard tours". Even first-time ski ascents (at least for many years) from various meadows are now possible. One star off because the forest path I chose wasn't always steep enough to really enjoy the white gold. Never mind, I'll know better tomorrow ;)
