Northern Black Forest: Good conditions at Kaltenbronn
Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
After almost no snow fell until after the New Year, the northern Black Forest has now also received between 30cm and 80cm at altitude. That's not bad for a start, considering the lean last few years (with a few exceptions).
Snow quality
The snow at Kaltenbronn and the surrounding area is nice and powdery. The only thing missing is a stable base, otherwise there would be more in terms of short runs through the woods.
Risks
Manageable: The amount of snow and the general conditions are still far from critical!
Overall impression
First class for a short exploratory tour. It was fun to be out and about where cross-country skiers, winter hikers and beginner skiers make their rounds. However, it has to be said that the epic slopes and couloirs of my winter are not to be found in the northern Black Forest.
