Snow report Upper Black Forest, 01/21/2017
Small updateRounds in the middle of the Black Forest (>800m).

Snow condition
Already more than in the lower elevations yesterday. About 40 cm of snow. Built up 10 cm at the bottom, then 30 cm powdery and partly covered on top. Ground contact was not an issue.
Snow quality
Mainly wind-worked. Sometimes a load-bearing, sometimes a nasty cover, in sheltered locations also no or hardly noticeable cover. You really have to search to find good snow. I picked out a hollow, but in the first round I made a mistake about where to find the good stuff.
Risks
Not an issue in this terrain.
Overall impression
As the base was borderline yesterday, I skied a little higher today. The snow was good, but not the quality. But it was enough for a few nice turns.
