Snow condition

After the snowfall last weekend, the snow cover has now settled and thanks to the inversion weather conditions (+5 degrees at the summit yesterday) some of it is already thawing again. Generally 20 to 40 cm, which is just about enough on the meadows, but it's not really great for the end of January (there was sometimes more at the beginning of November). The only consolation is the fact that it's white all the way down - but that's not enough to ride all the way down either. There are already quite a few brown patches on the Stollenbach.

Snow quality

Only a little powdery in some hollows, otherwise with a more or less stable cover and in southern locations already quite soggy in the afternoon.

Risks

It was quite windy again... Nice cornices in the Zasterl and on the Baldenweger Buck. So watch out!

Overall impression

Nice to escape the Freiburg fog soup and the cold and enjoy the wonderful weather on the Feldberg. Unfortunately, quite a few people had this idea on the weekend and there wasn't much snow (anymore). Supplies urgently needed!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
