Snow condition
We risked a courageous west-facing start at 470 meters. There's just enough snow here to start walking and, if you're lucky, to get back down safely. We then walked along the ridge towards the summit and even at 700 meters there was still very little snow. But every glance to the right and left gives the certainty that it is still winter and there is enough snow to be found. From 800 meters, it really is pure winter again and there is plenty of snow. The 4 stars mainly refer to the region above 800 meters, but there has already been more here this winter.
Snow quality
Here, too, the 4 stars for the regions near the summit above 800 meters. Nice and cold, nice and fluffy and simply fun to ride. Like Rah, I pulled the vacation joker today, because from tomorrow it's going to look completely different here and by Thursday and Friday at the latest there won't be much more to get.
Risks
You could see that the wind was there from the beautiful wind fishing in the forest. I haven't seen wind fishing in such a beautiful form very often. There is still a clear crust of rain under the fresh snow of the last few days and so a small parcel has slipped in from time to time. Rather uncritical in the forest, but you should be careful in open terrain.
Overall impression
The day was absolutely worth it. An unconventional journey combined with a friendly and super competent tour guide. We tried out new routes and landed some hits. Days like this can come more often.
Now we have to hope that the coming rain does as little damage as possible and that the new week starts with cold weather again.
