Outstanding, you can ride everything without any problems, even in the woods. We started on the north side at 900 m today.

Snow quality

Super pow at the top at 1300/1400m, which is really deluxe to ride. At the bottom (30-40cm deep) there is an ice crust, which probably comes from the last rainfall.further down in the forest, the snow layer above the ice crust was sometimes much smaller (10-20cm) and you had ice contact quite quickly.below 1100hm on the final descent to the parking lot in the afternoon, the snow was already quite heavy.

Risks

Today it was quite stormy in places. This was noticeable on the summits, where some cornices have built up over the last few days. In addition, there was clearly drift snow at the top, which could easily be kicked loose from the ice crust in somewhat steeper terrain, but there was no drift snow in the forest further down. There was some slush on a steeper section in the forest.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Another great day in the Black Forest, it was really fun. In addition, we were almost alone on the trail - fantastic.
In contrast, the reported rain showers over the next few days could bring tears to your face. But at least as a base, it should last for quite a while.
