With the fresh snow from Monday, there is now a decent base in the Black Forest. An estimated 20 to 40cm, depending on exposure and wind influence, came together at an altitude of over 1000m. There is currently snow up to around 400m in the valleys, although it decreases significantly below 700/800m and is not inviting for skiing.

On the base of the last few weeks there is now 20 to 40cm of the finest powder, I was only out and about above 800m, here the snow was very dry and fluffy light. The summits are strongly influenced by the wind.

Risks

The cornices have grown considerably with the strong winds of the last few days. The fresh snow comes off easily and can quickly lead to falls, otherwise the snow cover underneath makes a homogeneous impression. There is a layer of sleet on top of the fresh snow, which can lead to a thin layer depending on how the weather develops.

Today I was able to call it a day at lunchtime and take advantage of the weather with the fresh snow on the Kandel. The northern slope was almost completely covered, luckily there are other interesting options here, especially when there are no lifts (yet).

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
