Snow condition
Unfortunately, the warming and the rain had eroded the snow down to around 1000m, which must be taken into account when planning the tour, as there is only a base above this. Either start high up or choose meadow slopes, it has rained up to the top, the old snow has a hard icy crust and there is around 20 to 30cm of powder on top.
Snow quality
Wow, the cold of the past few days has once again created Canadian conditions in the Black Forest.
Risks
The unbound powder snow slides off the ice crust in extremely steep terrain. It is difficult to assess to what extent the partially broken cornices have solidified again due to the cold temperatures, but we were unable to detect any break-off.
Overall impression
Winter is back in the Black Forest :)
We took advantage of the first day of good weather and set off over the Rinken to Baldenweger before going to work, we weren't alone ... but soon enough.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
