Sufficient up to 800m on the north side. Here and there frozen meadows peek out. Easily possible without stones with a good eye.

Not bad as all, I had hoped for a little more blown-in powder on the Katzensteig itself. At the bottom, the powder was already tracked, but partly soft and fast.

Risks

Admittedly, I took out the grip before the steep section. But it's so evenly rolled under the power line that something should break in the quasi-frozen old snow. Maybe possible with the Sahara crust in mind. But everything seemed to be concrete-proof.

Overall experience: certainly one of the most challenging descents of this winter on a snowboard. The almost 40 degree steep section is very hard to icy, very alpine. There was some technically exciting stuff to do, some turns on a bit of sluff were even quite nice, but I briefly wished I had an ice axe in my hand ... then, as I said, it would have been classic de le Rue style.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
