Short Black Forest tour to the Feldberg
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Due to the warm days, the snow has now been pushed back to around 600 meters on shady slopes. By Sunday morning there was another 10 cm of snow, but it is very difficult to estimate how much snow there actually is due to the wind.
Snow quality
The new 10cm lie on a crust, but it's still firm. So fun cruising through the powder alá piste.
Risks
We didn't take a look at the usual avalanche slopes in the soup yesterday, but since the new snow came with wind again, the danger of cornice breaks and new accumulations of drift snow has probably increased accordingly.
Overall impression
Yesterday morning at 8 o'clock it was still sunshine over the sea of fog, until we were on the Stollenbach, it was unfortunately thick and around 12 o'clock new showers started again. Our first impression was that the visitors of the Black Forest became more reasonable again, until we came across a larger group (guided...) without safety equipment and then two pensioners who asked us where the Feldberg was. There were no photos, because it was only gray in gray :(
