Snow condition
There is still enough snow in the Upper Black Forest for the usual variants and tours. With the warm weather continuing and the nights no longer so cold, however, this could change quickly. Today I managed to ski down the slope to Bernau with a bit of searching, but it was borderline.
Snow quality
Just more hard-frozen old snow in the morning and by lunchtime it hadn't really turned to firn either. I didn't even take a closer look at the north-facing slopes, which were probably frozen hard without any downhill fun. What should not go unmentioned is the extreme soiling of the snow, on the one hand by the forest, but somehow it seemed to me as if Sahara sand had reappeared.
Risks
Attention should be paid to the warming, otherwise safe conditions in the Black Forest. Watch out in the coming days if it doesn't freeze at night on the cornices.
Overall impression
I used the sunny morning for a short tour from the Feldbergpass over the Herzogenhorn to Bernau. Today was high life again on the Feldberg, but already behind the Grafenmatt lifts I was almost alone and lonely on the way, only met a few other tourers.
