Snow report Upper Black Forest, 02/25/2016
Night ski tour on the Belchen
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
From Wednesday to Thursday there had been fresh snow as far as the Rhine plain. So the conditions further up should be quite good... we thought to ourselves and off we went to Belchen. In fact, the snow conditions above 900m in the Black Forest are still quite good for a mid-mountain area.
Snow quality
After the snowfall, the sun unfortunately came out during the day and that meant a freshly frozen top in the evening, but in forest passages and other shady spots (during the day) it was still nice and loose.
Risks
I would say that the avalanche situation in the Black Forest is very relaxed, with a few exceptions in the known critical places (e.g. Zastler?).
Overall impression
Very relaxed tour with a clear sky at first and light snowfall again at the end. Unfortunately, the day's guests had already made some tracks and the tour guide had forgotten the beer. There should be minus stars for that
