The snow from Wednesday was virtually non-existent today. Blown in all directions by the wind Grass/dirt skiing is the order of the day at Stellenbach, for sensible tours in the Black Forest there is now an urgent need for supplies, which is also forecast for next week.
Snow quality
The strong wind of the previous night had blown away all the powder. The majority of the snow was windswept and icy passages; it may have been even better in areas sheltered from the wind, but unfortunately there wasn't enough time to search extensively today.
Risks
Heavy loads were not conducive to the avalanche danger. Very powerful cornices in the Zastler and Herzogenhorn areas (picture).
Overall impression
Nice to have been out in the fresh air, there wasn't much to get today. Let's see what precipitation comes next week.
