Powder in the forest

Overall impression
Snow condition
From the parking lots up to approx. 1000m (Stollenbach, Rinken) there was enough snow throughout, increasing rapidly with altitude. On the north side a good 25cm of fresh snow on the base. Snow-covered forest, beautiful wintry landscape, summit area blown off, here and there the rain shell peeks out.
Snow quality
The snow has fallen with a lot of wind. The snow cover is loose and pleasantly soft everywhere. However, it is already packed almost everywhere. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Overall, however, very nice to ride.
Risks
Would certainly be "considerable" in the Alps. The snow cover is compact and there are signs of wind everywhere. Drift snow in the blown-in areas. The cornice on the Baldenweger Buck has come down and has carried snow down to the bottom. The scenery was threatening at first, but then quite stable. Steep slopes in the Bastler could be skied with a good feeling. There was a slight formation of floes in the entrances. Baldenweger Buck was already quite warm at 11:30 am. I would be more careful here tomorrow.
Overall impression
Hey, Black Forest this winter. Probably the best day so far. Tomorrow is still worthwhile.
