The recent snow has closed the first gaps at high altitudes, so that tours above 1000m are still possible. Unfortunately, it had rained recently and the little fresh snow now lies on a hard layer of ice.
Snow quality
Around 5-10 cm, difficult to estimate due to the strong winds, of fresh snow fell in the Black Forest on Monday, some of it in the form of sleet.
Risks
Drift snow is currently the main danger, see also the pictures. The cornices have also been growing over the last few days, although the warming last week has also caused some of them to fall. In addition, the new snow that is not connected to the old snowpack has a lot of sluff potential, which should not be underestimated.
Overall impression
First time on the mountain today, hence three stars :D
Unfortunately, there wasn't as much fresh snow as we had hoped, so the layer of ice was extremely noticeable on most turns.
