Snow report Upper Black Forest, 11/10/2013
The first snow has finally fallen in the Black Forest. So it's high time for the first ski tour of the season! Fog and light snowfall in the morning, slightly below zero at the summit with lots of wind. In the afternoon, clearing and occasional sunshine, around 0 degrees.

Quite decent for the beginning of November. Around 40 cm of fresh snow with lots of wind came down on the Feldberg summit. Below 1300 m there is still a good 30 cm. Nevertheless, bushes and shrubs are still peeking out of the snow cover everywhere. With a little caution, however, contact with the ground can easily be avoided!
Snow quality
At the summits, partly loose, partly wind-pressed. Then quickly becoming heavier below. Then worse at midday as the temperature rises...
Risks
Still too little snow to be really dangerous. Nevertheless, the wind has already done a great job again. At the moment, however, the danger comes more from hedges and branches that are hiding under the snow cover in large numbers
Overall impression
Wow, in just one day, winter has also arrived in the Black Forest. In parts it already looked like the height of winter, only with far fewer people;) Conclusion: A successful start to the touring season in the Black Forest!
