Snow condition

Full three stars. A good 50 cm in Todtnauberg, more like 60-80 cm at the top, which is a tad more than in the Vosges yesterday and nowhere near too much wind. The fir trees are covered in a thick layer of snow and remained so all day despite the sun, thanks to the crisp sub-zero temperatures. In the Black Forest, the amount of snow is decreasing rapidly towards the east (see CR from Zastler, barely 10 cm in Titisee-Neustadt). But Schauinsland and Belchen are covered in thick snow, as is the northern Black Forest.

Crisply cold and little wind, so it was dusty a few times. Still a little better but also a lot worse.

Risks

Because of the unpleasant experience yesterday, we went to the slopes and flat terrain to check the snow conditions. But it will generally be similar to the Vosges, so stay away from the steep stuff.

Black Forest winter wonderland at it's best. What more could you want on December 2nd? Almost kitschy!
